ok i finally got a blue ray drive for my pc yes dont laugh i must be tech retarted anymore i dono......

i installed power dvd which came free with the blue ray drive put in a blue ray disk and it plays for 30 seconds then stops with some error. I looked it up and said i needed a hdcp complient moniter?

how the heck does a moniter fail i mean it outputs video for christ sake......

HDCP is an encryption method - high def content like on the Blu-Ray won't go to unencrypted monitor connects. It'll normally play at standard DVD res tho.

aye might want to google see if you can get a firmware hack or something like that for the drive.

Yes the dreaded DRM is catching up on us , i think most of us will get caught by this sooner rather then later.

Sending a really pissed of email to your drive manufacteror about this also is a good thing :).

And if it didnt state anywhere _clearly_ that the device would only play on HDCP approved hardware i think you can claim your money back :)

Go the easier way and get AV cables for Computer to T.V, then just plug it into a HIDef T/V...52" so you don't miss any detail.....:)

It's possible to get similar errors when using Windows Media Player for DVDs in Vista Home Premium and Ultimate, too.

Well i got it to work thank god for any dvd hd to get rid of the hdcp lock power dvd would error out saying it couldn't play blue-ray from virtual drive. Umm it was not virtual.


So i downloaded total media theater 3 and it works like a champ...

So ya It is kinda bull. I could have got a dvi to vga adapter which would have bypassed the lock but i only would have gotten 720p or 1080i. Now i get full 1080p. They say all this copyright protection is good for us ya its. More like its good to pad there wallets. Just wanted to say i got it working tho without having to get a new monitor. I couldn't justify replacing a nice widescreen thats perfectly good with another widescreen that just has hdcp . Sorry with todays economy that kind of spending is retarded.
