If you know how many people die each year from the normal flue you would be surprised :) .

Some of the things seem scary but unless this carry over for months to come it may pass sooner then alot of people are saying at this moment.

No kidding. A friend of mine went to work yesterday with some allergies. When she got to work everyone avoided her like the plague. Her boss then told he she might have swine flu and needed to go to the doctors to get checked out. She told him she knows her body and knew it was allergies but nonetheless they would not let her stay and ordered her to leave. She went to the doctors got an allergy shot and wanted the doctor to write a note that said "not swine flu" but he wouldn't. So with her news she decided to go back to work but to avoid all the cold shoulders she waited until after 5pm so that all her coworkers would then be gone and she could work in peace until 9:30pm.

Yesterday at work I saw someone using a plastic bag wrapped around the phone she was using as to not get "the flu".

Now here is the question, can you really blame the general public when we have all news outlets telling us this is the worst thing since the big anthrax scare when people were afraid to open their mail for fear of a suspicious white powder?

I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be concerned if I came across someone who really did have Swine Flu but I'm not going to assume that someone with the sniffles is deathly ill and should be quarantined.

Peter i's statement "I think it's time to stop people from traveling ....." is just the thing we don't need right now. Just more fuel for the fire.

basicly the only way to contain the situation is not let travel happen from and to Mexico. But this can only be done in the early stages.

For all kinds of reasons people think this is dangerous while in fact the danger was happening when the disease tranfered from animal to humans and now going from human to human.

I think your friend is unlucky that her co workers are a bunch of asses. No one in their right mind would goto work with the new flue.

To much Fox news i guess :) .

Deaths in the US due to normal flu this calendar year - 18000.

Swine flu - 1.

If an area has an outbreak, might be sensible to try and contain it but otherwise it'll be tough. Even the Spanish flu only had a 2.5% mortality rate, and that was in 1918!

A Mexican travel to hong Kong stay in a deluxe hotel , found out positive ...
4 others return from Mexico due to exchange program (Gov. let them stay at home for 7 days until the test result confirm) Do you think this 4 young dude will stay at home quietly ?

Quote:
"Mexican national arrived from Shanghai yesterday and stayed at the Metropark HOtel in Wanchai, which has been quarantined. THis means no one can enter or leave. The patient is being treated in Ruttonjee Hospital. She's in stable condition."

Are you prepared to say you were wrong? Swine Flu is just another flu, and not significant at all despite the media hype.

I am sure the answer is yes, but the point is it really isn't that serious.
