A Google search turns up plenty of information on running BOINC on a GPU, unfortunately I am unable to find any specific instructions on how to do so.

Aha!

Simply put; it's 'only just' becoming used as a number crunching platform for two reasons:

1. The GPU does not conform to 'standards' set in IEEE for it's floating point unit to ensure there are no missed calculations for error. Allegedly, and this 'does not matter' if it misses pixels for games rendering

2. People haven't yet coded BOINC/Other projects to use the GPU yet.

Yeah for these calculations , it cant be used. However on Nvidia homepage it got a lot of features of which it can help with one was HD video encoding not to sure in which level it does that tho :) .

Anyway sadly seti@home doesnt use the GPU, so i would have to run Boinc on a BE2350 which isnt that fast for that kind of purpose (compared with my GTX 260) :)

You should still run it on the BE-2350. Every little bit helps.

BE2350 is still a decent chip. Not a massive powerhouse but considering I'm running SETI on even my Barton 2500 and Tomarlowe on his 2100+ I'd say go for it!

I've disabled Astropulses (SETI Work Unit type) on my laptop and HTPC. Currently both are working on an Astropulse or two and it will take I shi* you not at least 120 hours to complete each one on these machines. I'll let my desktop run as many as it likes because its got the power to process them. My laptop and HTPC aren't terribly slow but I really don't like leaving my laptop on 24/7 just to meet the deadline of an astropulse. The HTPC was not designed to be a processor powerhouse and might take weeks to process one.

I hear you on the Astropulse issue. I'm turning that off as well. I'd also like to point out that as a team went up 2 places last week and that very soon we will CRUSH Team Hamster.

Actually since we started contributing more on the 13th we've gone up seven places. Up one on the 13th, even on the 14th, down one on the 15th, even on the 16th, up one on the 17th, up four on the 18th, down one on the 19th, up two on the 20th and up one on the 21st. +1 0 -1 0 +1 +4 -1 +2 +1 = +7. At least according to BOINC Stats.

And as far as Astropulse is concerned I'm still crunching the same two units on my laptop. One of them I've processed 104 hours already and it still says I have like 50 or so to go. That is madness. I'm afraid to check the HTPC. But all while that has been going on my desktop has crunched multiple astropulses and I don't know how many regular units. Still waiting for it to be verified though.

My server PC attached to the television in the other room is just plumbing away crunching units on it's 1.9ghz amd athxp barton. I've just setup Vista 64bit on my 5600+ x2 and installed the boinc 64 client. Should crunch a few more than before.

It is but sadly my GTX 260 takes a lot of power in idle makes it not that great to run anything on there but for games.

I don't follow but I'm sure someone understands it. I'll just take your word for it. :)

The graphics card draws 180 Watt orso when being idle.

As where my cpu only draws 45 Watt under 100% load.

So leaving this rig on with this videocard is gonna boost my electrical bill by to much just for running seti@home.

I turn it off as soon as i am done with gaming.

Gotcha, I'm still waiting to see how much higher my power bill is leaving my desktop on 24/7. Haven't done that for awhile. If it's too high I'll shut it down and only run in a few hours a day.

Congrats to Tomarlowe for breaking 10,000 credits earned in SETI on Boinc.

Once I see my power bill it may be my last 10,000. PK, you should be overtaking me in the stats any day now I believe.
