Hello everyone... Sorry it has been way too long! Life turns you around sometimes eh?
I hope you all have been well, and I hope to visit more often again!
Quick Question: If a guy doesnt want to mess with building his own machine anymore and just wants to buy one that will run Crysis (and other such upcoming games) on HIGH settings, does anyone have such a system in mind?
I dont want to break the bank here, so having a "medium range" system which can run Crysis at good framerates in a decent resolution would be fine. Probably talking around $750 or so. Maybe as much as $900 max!
Thanks, and see you around!

I think that you need a big videocard for crysis more then anything else. The one in the other topic seems good value for money the 4870 _with_ 1GB is rather good also for running higher resolutions. The medium system can be any cpu which has a rating of near 5000 or better (the quad core version runs at 2.6 ghz (AMD HD995ZXAGHBOX Phenom X4 Quad-Core 9950 2.6GHz AM2+ (125W/65nm)) and still are rather cheap. I think these cpu's are to be replaced in the next OEM cycle with 45nm counterparts ? The ram should be (you going to buy a new pre installed machine (vista) 4gb. Im not to fond of Creative labs so no crap sound card try and see if the mainboard you get has decent sound. And sorry i cant redirect you to a prebuilt machine url but when you are alooking for one you atleast know which parts are important . Btw the 4870 does require a kickass PSU say 700 watt decent brand as well (check http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.h ... VzaWFzdA== for some benchmarks and power consumption data).

Thanks pieter! I have fallen behind for the past few years in keeping up with the lastest in hardware. Been a long time since we were all modding our brand new spiffy Athlon 750"s to run at 1400 etc... The good old days! So, what is the lowest video card I can have reasonably (not just "barely to be able to play on medium")? A 9 series? Must it be a 9800 or more? And how big are the PSU's these days? Man, my 440W Antec used to rule the world! Thanks again!

Maybe I'm an idiot, but with prebuilt machines, I've had pretty good luck with Dell's. I hate my Alienware with a passion. Actually, the machine itself it ok. I just hate that it took 20 hours to get the new out-of-the-box and "thoroughly tested" machine up and running. I wanted to spoil myself, and at the time, all sorts of people told me how much they loved their Alienware's. Turned out they bought them before the company went to shit.
And with that being said, didn't Dell buy them out at this point, or am I remembering rumors incorrectly?

Remember to ask for "Black Edition" and the ATI X2 chips flagship model, it helps with 60fps in high definition gaming experience !

WE INSURE EVERY PACKAGE FOR IT'S FULL VALUE AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO OUR CUSTOMERS 1)That video card wont run crysis. 260 GTX are relativly cheap now, get one of those, or go with a comparable ATI solution. 2)The power supply looks suspect, consider a OCZ Stealthextreme/Gameextreme, they are cheap, and come with a decent warentee. 3)Phenoms have memory controllers that support 1066 DDR2, so get the optimal ram.
