Mosin Nagant M44 manufactured by Izhevsk in 1944 towards the end of WWII. Fires the 7.62x54r round at around 2600 FPS. Haven't taken it to the range yet but am looking forward to giving it a go. Also I've heard these things give off a rather magnificent fireball.
Not me in the picture.

Just finished cleaning up the M44 after a full strip. I cleaned off all the cosmoline, got the excess lacquer off the metal parts, cleaned out the bore, attached the authentic "dog collar" sling and lubed up all the innards. She's as smooth as canvas now (what do you expect its a 64 year old service carbine!).

Will do! I should be able to get some decent shots tomorrow and possibly on Friday. I'm going to try and get some night shots or at least a few muzzle flashes.
Looking forward and I'll post how she handles .

Unfortunately I didn't get any more pictures but I was able to put a couple rounds through it and my first impression is DAMN it kicks like a mule! 7.62x54r is one serious round. I'm very interested to see how accurate it is at 100-300 yards, I'll find out this weekend when I head out to a range in VA Beach.
Just for comparison to the other rounds my guns fire. 7.62x54r on the right is what the M44 fires.

Wow, maybe we'll find a chance to shoot these when I come down to visit.

I've always wanted to get my hands on a M1 Garand to go with the bayonet given to me by my late grandfather.

That's pretty slick!
Although I'm not big into guns, I've always had a desire to take up archery. Not that there isn't skill in firing a gun, because I don't intend for that to be what I say, but to me, there's this certain level of skill to be able to do well with a bow. You have to be closer to your target, so stealth skills come into play a great deal, and it really takes some damned good aim. I personally don't know how expert marksmen do it considering an arrow flexes back and forth as it flies. Still, it's always been something that's kind of impressed me.
Although, when it comes to guns, I can truly appreciate something like yours. Looks like it would make for a great old school sniper rifle if you put a decent scope on it. I mean, that kind of power must be able to hit a target from a mile away... of course, assuming one has the skills to harness such power.
