Oh... I wasn't aware it crashed in the BIOS.

Something on the motherboard shorting out? If it's crashing in the BIOS, it's not likely windows, or any peripherals. I'm guessing mobo, cpu, memory, or psu.

This is why I don't like working with computers anymore. When a car shows symptom X, you know it needs a new radiator or something. When a computer shows X symtom, it could be six different things.

I used to like it when I had more spare time. I'm not 18 anymore though. :(

Well I don't know if this thing is fixed or what but I switched my memory around. Moved the 256mb and 512mb sticks and it seems to be working. I just don't know if this is just a lucky run or what. But it's been on for about 30-45 minutes now and seems to be trucking along just fine.

Hopefully this is fixed because damn it I like having a working laptop.

An update. I had one more crash since I switched the memory but since then none and I have used it quite extensively. Even left it on for the better part of a day. Seems to have fixed itself. I really just wish I knew what the heck caused the program. Ahh well. Now I can sell it on eBay without having to list it as "broken". Should fetch a decent amount.

How many of it's components are secretly made by the Sony.
